Vittorio Ghirelli in Singapore with GP2 for the penultimate appointment of the season
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is ready to host the world’s greatest drivers in the penultimate weekend of the race of the GP2 championship, as always joined to Formula 1. Fascinating and impressive, the Singapore street circuit has a length of 5 km and path counterclockwise.
Vittorio Ghirelli started from Italy to reach the republic of south-east Asia and he was on track Friday for the 30 minutes of free practice and subsequent the qualifying in which he was placed in the 11th row. Saturday in Race 1 Ghirelli has made a good start and immediately he tried to climb the rankings until, after only 9 laps, a contact caused by a problem with the steering forced him to retire.
In Race 2 Ghirelli made a beautiful comeback, lap after lap, the Italian driver of the Venezuela GP Lazarus team came up to 9th position, leaving behind most of the GP2 drivers. It could be the perfect opportunity to gain important points, but once again he was penalized by the tires that have left him a few laps from the end and for this reason he has lost more than 10 positions. Ghirelli has crossed the finish line in 20th place, with the regret of being able to get into the Top Ten, but also with the knowledge that, beyond the technical or mechanical problems, the driver of Fasano has determination, speed and the talent to reach the top in every category.
